As it says in the thread title, this thread is for spoilers only, discussion of these spoilers should take place in the Spoiler Discussion Thread. Posts not following the rules will be deleted.
General Spoilers: 02/23 - It appears Joshua Jackson's Grey's Anatomy gig has ended before it began. And once again, the writers' strike is to blame. To quickly recap, Grey's announced last fall that the ex-Dawson's Creeker would be joining the cast for a multi-episode arc as a doctor and, as I would later report, a love interest for Cristina. Unfortunately, just weeks before he was scheduled to shoot his first episode, the writers went on strike and Jackson's stint, just like the TV biz itself, was put on hold. Cut to present day: The strike is over, Grey's is headed back into production, and Jackson is - yep, you guessed it - no longer available. During the work stoppage, J.J. Abrams hand-picked the actor to headline his new X-Files-esque Fox series Fringe , which is currently in production in Toronto (and will be through mid-March). Although an attempt was made to make the scheduling work, ultimately the logistics proved too daunting. Now Grey's is forced to either recast the role or scrap it entirely. An ABC spokesperson declined to comment, but a Seattle Grace insider says a final decision will likely be made in the coming days. Source: The Ausiello Report 01/16 - When the show returns, Christina will have 2 major storylines: a romance with Joshua Jackson's doctor character and she will help Meredith get over her split with Derek (which will last for awhile - at least until the end of the Derek/Rose arc). Source: The Ausiello Report 01/10 - I hear Shonda Rhimes has every intention of shoe-horning Pacey [Joshua Jackson] into Seattle Grace (and Cristina's bed) the second the strike is over. Someone - and a major someone at that - wants to be discharged from Seattle Grace, and STAT. But, as far as I can tell, that someone is not Sandra Oh. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide 01/08 - I'm told the original plan for Lauren was for about seven episodes, possibly more if the Der-Rose chemistry was "humming." ... We'll get much more of Rose when the show returns (whenever that may be). Source: Kristin on E!Online 11/27 - [Joshua Jackson] is no longer scheduled to come on Grey's. Producers are hoping they can figure out another slot for him after the strike, but that's contingent on his schedule. Source: Kristin on E!Online 11/18 - Joshua Jackson's arc has been delayed indefinitely. I found out which Seattle Grace doc he was going to be paired with, and it's pretty much the last person I would've suspected: [...] It's Cristina! Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

General Spoilers:
02/29 - ABC has confirmed that Kate Walsh, whose freshman show Private Practice is on hiatus until fall, will return to Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Addison Montgomery for one episode this spring. Executive Producer Shonda Rhimes is still fleshing out the script, so there's no word yet on when Walsh's episode will air. Source: Entertainment Weekly

Question: I was really looking forward to Joshua Jackson being Cristina's love interest on Grey's Anatomy, so the scheduling conflicts suck! Any updates on who'll be cast instead? — Audrey Ausiello: Big update: I'm hearing that Shonda Rhimes has handed the plum part to a relative newcomer by the name of No One. Get it? She handed the role to No One. [Hold for laughter and/or crickets] Seriously, my Grey's spies tell me that Ms. Rhimes has decided to put the character on hold indefinitely. Bummer.
Question: I seriously need some Grey's Anatomy scoop. Any hope for us Mer-Der fans?— Amanda Ausiello: Not in the first episode back, which flashes forward a few months and, per one source, picks up at the end of Derek and Rose's latest date. In that same episode, I'm hearing something about a contest to determine who Seattle Grace's best doc is.

“My goal is to get Meredith [Ellen Pompeo] and Derek [Patrick Dempsey] together for good and let them try to figure out what it is to be in a relationship in the future.” - Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. The executive producer’s words may offer welcome relief for fans exhausted by months - years - of Meredith and Derek getting closer, yet always driven apart. “That is something that time off [during the writers’ strike] really gave me some perspective on — whether or not we could actually do it, how we could do it, that it would be amazing to watch how that works,” Rhimes said. Will the much-maligned Meredith and Derek love story finally be repaired? In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shonda Rhimes said she had dinner with Dempsey and “we talked about all of this. As actors, they’re very invested in Derek and Meredith. Ellen and I are getting together Monday.” Even the Grey’s Anatomy cast itself is excited by this news. When told of the MerDer development, T.R. Knight exclaimed, “Oh, wow, I didn’t know that! I guess Meredith and Derek are gonna smooch again!” On a slightly less ecstatic note, Knight said he is busy getting over a bad cold before heading back to work next week: “I got the crud that’s been going around,” he said as he drove home from a doctor’s appointment yesterday. “It was like, Body is crashing, you’ve got a week and a half to be sick before work starts, so go.” Also coming up when Grey’s Anatomy returns April 24: Lauren Stamile, who plays McDreamy’s latest potential love interest, Nurse Rose, will return for all five new spring episodes. Elizabeth Reaser, as Jane Doe / Ava / Rebecca, will be back for three. Source: Grey's Anatomy Insider

Question: Can I book you for this coming weekend? It's my birthday and I'd love to discuss Grey's! Do you accept Visa? — Danielle Ausiello: I'll be covering the Paley Festival this weekend. If you live in the L.A. area, I might be able to get away for a few hours to "discuss Grey's" on the evening of the 17th. Let me know.*
Question: Now that we know that Meredith and Derek will be getting back together on Grey's Anatomy, any idea on how it'll happen and why the fans have to endure five more episodes of Nurse Plot Device? — Shari Ausiello: I imagine the reason you have to endure Nurse Plot Device Rose for five more episodes is because A) the show already agreed to pay Lauren Stamile for those episodes, and B) Nurse Plot Device Rose is probably one of the catalysts bringing Mer-Der back together. In related news, new details are emerging about the first episode back on April 24 and they vary slightly from what I reported last week. I'm told that roughly six weeks will have passed, not "several months." And the first scene will most likely take place at Seattle Grace, not at the end of Derek and Rose's latest date. Damn script revisions!

Question: Grey’s Anatomy scoop — please, sir, may I have some more? Ausiello: Get this: Grey’s Anatomy is out to get George Clooney! Well, a George Clooney type, at least, to appear in two episodes. The show also is on the hunt for an actress to play the hunk’s wife, who, though younger, is no Sarah Larson; she’s more of an everywoman housewife. I’m thinking American Dreams alum Rachel Boston? So what if she was already on the show — bring her back! You got a better idea?

Last week, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello has the latest on what we can expect for Meredith and Derek, as well as some interesting cast notes (and speculation).
This week, the insider has tracked down some scoop regarding another fan favorite, star-crossed Grey’s Anatomy couple - the often maligned Gizzie.
Question: That’s great about Mer/Der getting back together for good this season, but what about Seattle Grace’s other star-crossed duo — you know, Gizzie? Ausiello: It’s with overwhelming joy deep regret that I inform you that Gizzie is no more. Sources confirm that the ill-conceived plot twist suffocated to death under the weight of its own absurdity shortly after the writers returned to work last month. A private memorial service was held in early March at the home of Shonda Rhimes. In lieu of flowers, fans are asked to keep the “thank gods” to a low roar …
Question: Got any clue as to what’s going to happen when Addison (Kate Walsh) returns to Grey’s Anatomy? Ausiello: I’ve actually got a big clue, and here it is: Addison Montgomery just so happens to stop by Seattle Grace on the same day a patient is admitted to the hospital with a neo-natal-type emergency. What are the odds?!

Updated on March 23, 2008
Grey's Anatomy is currently on hiatus. Due to the strike, 16 of the 23 episodes will be completed. The series was renewed for a fifth season.
Episode 4.12: Where The Wild Things Are Airdate: April 24, 2008
03/23 - A male patient is suffered important injuries after his brother drove the car both were in straight into a truck. The patient keeps rambling about the fact his brother married the wrong woman. Otis Sharon, another patient, tells a doctor about mistakes he (Otis) would erase if he could go back to when he was 30. But, after tons of tests, he learns that he only has the flu, Otis changes his tune. Source: SpoilerFix.com 03/22 - Clea DuVall will fill the "everywoman housewife" role I teased in last week's Ask Ausiello. Her George Clooney-esque husband will be played by Jason O'Mara (Men in Trees, In Justice). I'm guessing one of them will be a patient. Both are on board for two episodes. Source: The Ausiello Report 03/17 - The George Clooney-type actor they are looking for will play a 40-year-old character named Phillip Robinson. He is described as handsome, rugged and kind. His wife, Jennifer, is a Midwestern type hardworking woman in her late 20s or early 30s. Both will be recurring guest stars. The episode also features Jonah, Phillip's brother, and Otis Shannon, a 60-year-old lonely man. Source: SpoilerFix.com
03/12 - I'm told that roughly six weeks will have passed, not "several months." And the first scene will most likely take place at Seattle Grace, not at the end of Derek and Rose's latest date. Damn script revisions! [The show is looking for] a George Clooney type, at least, to appear in two episodes. The show also is on the hunt for an actress to play the hunk's wife, who, though younger, is no Sarah Larson; she's more of an everywoman housewife, minus the desperate. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide 03/12 - It looks like they're casting for a grumpy old man to yell at Lexie and make her think about regret, and for a newlywed couple whose medical situation makes Meredith think about the risk inherent in commitment and/or the dangers of cars crashing into 18-wheelers. Source: Kristin on E!Online 03/06 - [Nothing new is happening with Derek and Meredith] in the first episode back, which flashes forward a few months and, per one source, picks up at the end of Derek and Rose's latest date. In that same episode, I'm hearing something about a contest to determine who Seattle Grace's best doc is. Source: The Ausiello Report
Episode 4.13: Pieces of My Heart Airdate: May 1, 2008
03/23 - This seems to be the episode where Addison will drop by Seattle Grace because one of the cases of the week involves a yet-to-be-born baby whose organs are reversed. An HIV-positive woman learns that she is pregnant. A grandpa-type doctor is called in to help a 35-year-old pregnant woman suffering from Huntington's Disease but refuses to take her on as a patient when he learns of her condition and thinks of the potential malpractice risks involved with the case. Episode 4.15: Title Unknown Airdate: May 15, 2008
Episode 4.16: Title Unknown (Season finale) Airdate: May 22, 2008
General Spoilers:
03/23 - George will move toward "becoming that guy," reveals Grey's exec producer Shonda Rhimes, which is a huge relief to T.R. Knight: "He's been such a mess for so long, making weird choices, it'll be nice to see him grow up a little quicker." Helping him get there? The Chief, who will take George under his wing. Christina, meanwhile, will have her own professional crisis over being Hahn's resident, and Ava/Rebecca will be back for three episodes. Also making a brief return: Addison. "There are a couple of surgeries only she can perform," says Rhimes, "and there are a lot of relationships only she has. It's going to be a very significant visit for a lot of the characters - particularly Addison." And we've saved the best for last: While Rose is returning for all five episodes, Meredith and McDreamy will be getting together "for good," says Rhimes. "The goal was not always to get them together at the end of the season, but that is my goal now." Source: Entertainment Weekly
03/22 - Amy Madigan has booked a multi-episode arc on Grey's Anatomy, sources confirm to me exclusively. The Oscar-nominated thesp [...] is playing a psychiatrist. Source: The Ausiello Report
03/19 - Gizzie is no more. Sources confirm that the ill-conceived plot twist suffocated to death under the weight of its own absurdity shortly after the writers returned to work last month. 03/18 - Sloan and Hahn's verbal sparring will continue. He will have to deal with the fact that Hahn is not that into him. Source: The Ausiello Report
03/17 - "My goal is to get Meredith and Derek together for good and let them try to figure out what it is to be in a relationship in the future," Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes revealed to EW.com today. Our girl Meredith Grey becomes more assertive and grows “very strong” in the first episode back from the strike. She’s taking steps to move forward with her life and dealing with the fact that she’s no longer with McDreamy. George and Izzie (Gizzie) come to grips with the realization that they’re better off being friends (a realization that has sparked great controversy). The beautiful Kate Walsh will be back for a guest appearance in the second of the five post-strike episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. Her character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, is urgently needed at Seattle Grace to perform a special operation. Lauren Stamile, a.k.a. Nurse Plot Device, will still be around when Grey’s Anatomy returns. And Elizabeth Reaser, who plays the former patient, of Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Rebecca/Ava/Jane Doe, will be returning as well. And the most major Grey’s Anatomy news (this is a big spoiler): For the many Grey’s Anatomy fans still deeply invested in the turbulent Meredith-Derek relationship, the couple does get back together “for good” before the end of the current (fourth) season. Dun-dun-dun! You may celebrate at will. Source: Grey's Anatomy Insider

Episode 4.12: Where The Wild Things Are Airdate: April 24, 2008
03/30 - "When we come back, we'll have leapt ahead five or six weeks in time," creator Shonda Rhimes says. "It's our way of acknowledging the bump caused by the strike. But it'll be very clear from the first moment what has transpired. You'll see where things stand with Derek and Meredith and Rose. You'll see where George is living, and in the first episode all the residents will be involved in a high-stakes surgical contest -- definitely not something the chief would condone." Old relationships will become new again, some people you thought would never get together will, and there are going to be some interesting outside influences," Rhimes promises. George and Izzie have "put it to bed for the night. They've left it at the idea that it's not necessarily about the bad sex as it is the bad timing. What will be interesting to see it that after that intimate explosion of events, whether they can just be friends." Source: TV Guide
Episode 4.13: Pieces of My Heart Airdate: May 1, 2008
03/30 - Addison will pop up at Seattle Grace to perform surgeries that only she can do and "discover whether you can ever really go home," Rhimes says. Source: TV Guide
General Spoilers:
03/30 - Pretty boy plastic surgeon Mark "McSteamy" Sloan will continue his pursuit of the hard-to-impress Dr. Hahn. "The way that is going to play out will be surprising to everyone," Rhimes says. "Mark Sloan is not used to not getting what he wants." "I am pretty dedicated to the idea that [Meredith and Derek] are to be together for good this season," Rhimes says. "What's going to be interesting is how she gets her act together, and how they decided that this is it." Are those wedding bells we hear?! "I did not say there is going to be a wedding," Rhimes says. "Or a ring. Although I did not say there wasn't going to be a ring." Source: TV Guide

Question: Any idea how good or bad the upcoming episodes of Grey's Anatomy are? — Alistair Ausiello: That depends. Does the sight of two extremely good-looking young men making out on your TV screen get you excited? If your answer is yes, then I guarantee you at least one of Grey's five post-strike episodes will be very good. According to my Seattle Grace mole, producers are looking for a pair of actors in their twenties to play gay soldiers in love. Interested thesps must be Caucasian, hot and be comfortable sharing a "very romantic kiss" with another dude. BTW, if you're wondering why we teased this item with a photo of Eric Dane, it's because a) the story pertains to Grey's and b) Dane is a member of that show's cast. Duh.

Question: Does your news of a two-hour finale of Grey’s Anatomy mean two new hours of the show, or is it going to be a recap episode and then the finale?
Ausiello: As I understand it, there’ll be about 80 minutes of show, plus 22 minutes of commercials and 18 minutes of ABC promos. Give or take a few here and there.
Question: Grey’s Anatomy casting two gay service members? Sign me up! I am a former service member that was discharged for being gay.
Ausiello: You’re too late — they’ve already found a few good-looking men: Benny Ciaramello (Friday Night Lights‘ Santiago) and Road Rules’ David Giuntoli have been tapped to play the same-gender-lovin’ soldiers who share a “very romantic kiss.”
Question: Wanna tell us who is gonna be involved in the super-secret, special, surprising kiss in the Grey’s Anatomy season finale?
Ausiello: First, let’s explain to the class what you’re referring to, Mandy. In the current issue of TV Guide, guest columnist Shonda Rhimes offers a first-person preview of the show’s final five episodes — and she saves the best for the last paragraph. “A lot happens in these five episodes,” she writes. “And it all ends with a kiss. A good kiss. A great kiss. A kiss so good it makes you lean into your televisions. A kiss we never saw coming. Oh, it’s a major kiss.” Unfortunately, I come bearing no clues since I honestly have no idea whose lips will be smacking. She kind of threw me for a loop with the whole “kiss we never saw coming” bit.

Episode 4.14: The Becoming Airdate: May 8, 2008 04/27 - A soldier named Darren needs brain surgery. A military friend named Todd is at the hospital for support. As soon as they are alone (so they think), they share a long and passionate kiss. However, Darren's father, walks in on them and is not happy with what he just saw. Darren's father is explained what the clinical trial is all about: injecting a virus into the tumor so that the virus cuts off the tumor's brain supply. Kyra, a mother and wife, is tired of life at the hospital since she can't play with her kids and her husband cannot hold and kiss properly because of the tubes, etc. She has been waiting for a new heart for eight weeks. Because of recent harrassment complaints, Wayne, a HR representant demands that all staff members fill out a form listing all past and present workplace relationships. Jeremy and Beth, a couple in love, both undergo surgery and are afraid the other won't come out of it alive. Source: SpoilerFix.com
General Spoilers: 04/23 - There is a Mer-Der resolution before the season ends and it looks as though they're heading for outright coupledom, but of course, it won't happen right away. Sources tell me that Derek and Rose are on a special (brain surgery, of course) hospital case for quite some time together when the show returns, and DeRose get pretty cozy, however their romantic connection won't survive the season, as sources tell me that Lauren Stamile (Rose) is being phased out of the show. Question: Any Grey’s Anatomy scoop involving Hahn and Sloan? They are my new favorite couple. Kristin Veitch: But isn’t she a le…ooker, a looker? Not that there’s anything wrong with that! (Wink, wink.) I can tell you that Eric Dane (Mark “McSteamy” Sloan) has a nude scene in the finale. God bless you, Shonda Rhimes! Who he’s gettin’ naked with I cannot say, but obviously there is gonna be some steam involved. In other Grey’s Anatomy news, I’m also told that Ava/Rebecca is actually sick, and that will be a big story line for both Alex and Izzie.
