90210 Cast Reveals Why Premiere Is "Top Secret"You've gotta love this. The Parents Television Council is putting the kibosh on the CW's 90210—even though its members haven't seen it yet.
"If Gossip Girl is any indication of what 90210 will look like, advertisers have plenty of reason to steer clear of the show," PTC President Tim Winter said in a just-released statement. "No reputable advertiser should even consider sponsoring the show without viewing the content in advance."
Hear that? It's the sound of the CW promo guy rubbing his hands together in delight. Hate to break it to you, PTC, but this is just the kind of publicity the 9-0 folks were hoping for. It worked out magically for their Gossip Girl billboards, after all.
Of course, the big question is, why is the CW not showing anyone the premiere episode before it airs? As I found out at the show's launch party on Saturday, the answer is a lot more practical than you'd think...
Turns out, not even the cast has seen the first episode, which airs in only one week, because they're still shooting it.
While the CW has said it is "riding the curiosity and anticipation into premiere night" and 9-0 newbie Adam Gregory (who is hot enough to burn the sun, FYI) told me it's "like Lost" and the script is "so juicy, and there are so many twists and turns, we don't want anybody to know what's happening beforehand," other cast members told me Saturday night that they've been working until the wee hours this past week (Shannen Doherty mentioned she got home at 8:30 Saturday morning; AnnaLynne McCord wrapped at 6 a.m.) doing reshoots on the pilot episode.
"[The premiere] is not actually completed yet—they're still working on it," Lori Loughlin told me at the show's ultraswanky bash on the beach Malibu. "They wanted to add a little bit. They felt like they needed a little extra scene in there, and they're just doing all the fine tuning, trying to make it perfect. It's good, it's all good, it's all positive."
The quest for perfection is only natural given the high-profile nature of the series, and according to the show's goddess of a grandmother (who knows a thing or two about good TV), Jessica Walter, we have no reason to worry about the final product. "Yes, it's all top secret. But the producers certainly know what they're doing, I can tell you that."
Jessica Stroup (who just came off of Reaper) also said she has faith: "I gotta say, the scenes that I saw, especially the end of the first hour, it was the most iconic, like, perfect thing. I was so pleased."
Stand by for more from the 90210 premiere party—yes, Shannen and Jennie Garth were both there, and our tech elves are working on bringing you video clips ASAP.
In the meantime, what do you think of the great mystery that is the 90210 premiere? Will you be watching?Source

90210 Alum Keep Claws at Bay—Barely There's no better place for a Beverly Hills 90210 bash than...Malibu? Wrong ZIP, but right piss-ass 'tude. Super egos and superficiality are never geographically specific. Our very own private eyeballs were, yes, on the scene in the 'Bu last weekend when the 90210 stars, new and old, came out to celebrate another year of H'wood running out of fresh ideas.
Unless you count an African-American kid joining the cast and some better hairstyles, that's about as updated as it gets.
Visions for nostalgic eyes included Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth, both slated to star in the new season, 'course. Shan-doll donned a black dress with a plunging neck, a good wardrobe choice for someone either known for being a bitch or a witch (on Charmed, of course). Jen-hon, who never said no to any attendee desiring a pic with the Kelly Taylor, was rockin' her new Dancing With the Stars-trained bod, wearing a slinky black 'n' white strapless number with some serious stilettos.
Def the Aaron Spelling gal that's aged the best since, sorry Tori. You didn't actually think you were going to win that one, did you? Flitting from marriage to marriage, will-bashing episode to the next, penning blab-all tomes, babes, that stress stuff ages the puss pronto!
S.D. musta figured that her comeback was being trampled by a way foxier femme 'cause she and J.G. spent the whole soiree mingling on opposite sides of the room. Wonder if both gals knew the claws would come out if they laid their eyes on one another off-set? We so hope Brenda and Kelly get into fisticuffs within the first five minutes of the pilot.
We'd consider that appointment television right there, wouldn't you? Naturally, you would. Are we forgetting somethin' here, though? Oh, right, all the fresh faces of the 90210 new class. The glam gang went virtually unnoticed the whole night—guess it's hard to tell one actor from another in a giant party crowd.
That'll probly change superquick once the show hits the tube—who knew what a Chace Crawford or an Ed Westwick was before Gossip Girl started making tween waves? Now we can't go to any H'wood hang without running into one of those dandy-lookin' G.G. prancers. Watch out, Gossip guys 'n' gals, you've got some just-as-pretty ass-candy headed your way in the fall. Yummy overload, look out!Source

Doherty Declawed? Shannen Shops Serenity to UsShannen Doherty is Hollywood's original bad girl, but you wouldn't know it from the press she's doing lately—especially the latest Us Weekly cover story in which the actress insists she's found an "inner peace" and refuses to comment on her turbulent relationships with her former 90210 castmates.
This is not the exposé we Doherty devotees expected. Seriously, not even a tiny spat with her reunited costar, Jennie Garth? Au contraire, says the "grown up and evolved" Shannenbot.
What is going on? In her day, ShanDo put the antics of Young Hollywood to shame...
LiLo's DUI and set tardiness? Check. Quickie marriage à la Britney? Two of 'em. Paris' romp with Rick Salomon? Uh-huh. (See previous: At least Shannen Salomon got annulled.) Miley's racy magazine photos? LOL—try three issues of Playboy.
We're still waiting for some young starlet to attempt Shannen's assault with a deadly weapon. But still our girl insists on having class: "I certainly wasn't showing my crotch."
Surely a reminder (courtesy of a colorful pull-quote in the Us spread) of Garth's 1995 comments will spark our spitfire: "There are times when I think she may be tragic. I think there may be something evil inside her."
Get off the Beverly Hills High road, Doherty—it's time for a 9021-oh-no-she-di'n't smackdown. We're counting on you to bring bitchy back.Source

Shannen & Jennie’s 90210 ReunionWed, 27 August 2008 FA-IERCE!!! Former Beverly Hills 90210 stars Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth are teaming up again after 14 years to reprise their roles as friends-turned-rivals Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor in the new 90210 spinoff show. Entertainment Weekly naturally has the scoop! Here are some of the juiciest tidbits: EW: In Tori Spelling’s book sTORI Telling, she tells some pretty harsh stories about you, Shannen. Did you read the book? DOHERTY: I will censor myself out of respect for Jennie because she’s friends with Tori. I got passages sent to me and a vast majority of it is incredibly exaggerated. Maybe it’s a difference of how I was raised. I just don’t believe you write personal on-set experiences in a book. For me, when you work it’s almost a sacred experience whether you get along with everyone or not. In 27 years of acting I’ve never sold out one of my cast members. Ever. And I will stick to that. EW: In the book it says you two got into a fistfight. That sounds very badass. But is it true? GARTH: A fistfight? That makes us sound so tough. DOHERTY: I know. Like we were serious gangsters. GARTH: I didn’t read the book either. EW: You’re thanked in it. GARTH: For what? I wonder what I did. I asked Tori if I needed to read it and she said no, I shouldn’t bother. … EW: For the new 90210, you were both involved with determining where Kelly and Brenda were in their lives. Jennie, the producers initially wanted Kelly to be a West Beverly Hills High School board member, right? How did she become a guidance counselor? GARTH: I didn’t want to be on the show for no reason. I wanted to have some value. When Gabe and [exec producer] Jeff [Judah] told me some of the things they were doing, I was like, ”Whoa. That is not 90210, people.” They were trying to educate me [about] how teens are in high school today. It was so shocking to me that I thought I should bring a positive spin somehow. Of course, I have yet to guide or counsel anyone. DOHERTY: I think they must have told you the same things they told me. EW: What kinds of things? DOHERTY: All I know is there’s a girl giving a guy a b— job in the first episode. GARTH: When they told me that, I thought, Aaron Spelling is rolling over in his grave right now. Scandalous!!!!! Shannen Doherty & Jennie Garth Cover Entertainment WeeklyWed, 27 August 2008 Rumored rivals Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth locks arms on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly. The reunited-at-last pair will dish on their rocky past, unlikely reunion and why the new show shocks even them! The cover feature with Shanne, 37, and Jennie, 36, will later appear on EW.com. “There was almost a comfort in knowing that I was getting to work with somebody who had been on the original with me and gone through the same experiences,” Shannen recently told Radar. “Like, ‘Okay we’ve been through the war together already.’ I never even gave any thought to it being awkward. I know how much I’ve grown up since then. I would assume that she’s grown up the same amount.” 90210 premieres @ 8PM ET/PT on Tuesday, Sept. 2 on The CW.

90210's Grimes Shakes Off Cheeseburger TauntIf Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley was looking for a feud when he told the 90210 girls to "eat a cheeseburger," Shenae Grimes isn't biting.
Into the feud, that is. No word on the cheeseburger.
The actress, who plays Annie on 90210, had this to say to Extra about complaints she's too thin: "Shake it off, baby!"
Grimes and castmate AnnaLynne McCord also sidestepped talk of a clothing rivalry with the Gossip girls.
“We beat the makeup by far, I’ll tell ya that! But oh my god, Leighton [Meester] — I love her. She rocks that show," McCord said.
Everyone's getting along so well that Grimes is down for a crossover with her fellow CWers: "We have been talking about that since day one," she said.
What do you think? Should the Gossip cast stop off at the Peach Pit for cheesburgers? — Tim Molloy Source here
