CSI: Season 9 Premiere Details Tuesday, September 16, 2008 As it debuts its 9th season on October 9, CSI is the last of the franchise to premiere. Judging from the promo it released, however, not to mention the initial reaction from fans, Gil Grissom and his gang are far from being last in terms of intensity. Opening with that comforting voice-over by Grissom (William Petersen), the premiere of CSI's ninth season is touted to be one of the best in the show's already stellar history.
“As crime scene investigators, we meet people at the worst days of their lives. The phrase we're trained to offer them, ‘I'm sorry for your loss,' doesn't offer much.”
Possible spoilers ahead.
As reported previously, the season premiere, “For Warrick,” will pick up where season 8 left off, that is, Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) shot and bleeding to death. It was called “the crime no one expected (that) will bring CSI together for the case of their lives,” emphasized throughout the promo. In the minute-and-a-half clip, the new character Riley Adams (Lauren Lee Smith) already makes an appearance, while outgoing Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) is seen hugging Grissom in the wake of the tragedy that befell the team.
Perhaps, as a sort of fitting tribute to Dourdan, who leaves the show for purportedly personal reasons, the promo had a lot of flashbacks of Warrick pieced alongside the CSI team at work, doing what they do best, but this time with one of their own at stake. Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle), moreover, tells a group of officers that Warrick is their only case for the mean time.
As the promo ends, Grissom is seen rushing to Warrick's aid as the latter bleeds. Grissom admonishes him, “Warrick, stay with me." Then the camera cuts to a close-up of Warrick's wide-open eye. When the screen goes blank, Grissom can still be heard crying, “Oh my God.”

Cast, Producers Discuss Sara's Exit from 'CSI'Monday, September 22, 2008 Jorja Fox, who plays Sara Sidle on CSI, will return on the premiere of the hit CBS show, the first of a reportedly three-episode story arc. In the promo, she is seen hugging Grisson (W.lliam Petersen) obviously disheartened at what happened to Warrick (Gary Dourdan). Her leaving CSI last season seemed to have opened the floodgates of changes that now hound the show as it returns for its ninth season in October. If we remember, Fox left in last season's episode called “Goodbye and Good Luck,” suffering from what looked like psychological burnout. Sara just snapped after a particularly difficult case. She left without saying goodbye to her fellow investigators especially Grissom, save for a note saying something about confronting about the ghosts of her past, something that she couldn't do in Vegas. Recently, the CSI producers and Fox herself revealed the inspiration behind this farewell episode. "We were sitting and talking to Billy (Petersen) and Jorja about it, and Jorja told this story about a friend of hers who had been in a relationship with a guy and she had just left him a note and said, 'I can't deal with it anymore. I have to leave,'" executive producer Naren Shankar said. “It felt like that would be the way that she would let it go, and it really turned out beautifully, I thought.” As they put it, grace was the focus of the team in formulating a decent exit for Fox. "We wanted her exit to be dignified and appropriate and satisfying both for the actress, for the character, and always for the fans, and I think we accomplished that," executive producer Carol Mendelsohn added. "And it was really sad." According to Fox, her character's relationship with Grissom was her favorite part of the show, although the writers were not really too keen on the matter. "For a show that's not really about romance at all … (it was) something that was extraordinarily sort of exciting and amazing to get to play,” she said.

Of course, I think this thread is for all CSI's. I watch it, but I've seen only 4 seasons... The 5th is aired here, but now I'll be on college and there's no tv so I cannot watch it nor download it... Ehm, I'm the opposite of you, cause I kinda like him. He's good, always caring... Well, I know we haven't seen him in lab almost all the episodes ;D , but I still think that he's a good leader...

its been an emotional night for me, maybe its lack of sleep or something but this episode had me crying. I'm happy that they got Warricks killer, I thought for sure Nick was gonna shot him, I wanted him to but didn't, you know. Nick rocks btw, he figured it out first. I was happy to see Sara back too, Grissom's speech at the end, had me balling, I don't want him to leave either.
