Angela Bassett to Appear on the Final Season of 'ER'Tuesday, May 13, 2008 ER has added yet another A-list actress to its ranks. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Angela Bassett is joining the cast of the NBC medical drama for its 15th and final season. Bassett will reportedly portray “a tough attending with a troubled past who's coming back to Chicago after a few years in Indonesia doing tsunami relief. Her arrival in the second episode next season promises to shake County General's ER to the core.” This will mark Bassett's first foray as a television series regular. She first made her appearance on television as a prostitute in the 1985 TV movie Doubletake and officially made her film debut in the 1986 film F/X. Soon after, she won the role of Tina Turner in the feature film What's Love Got to Do with It where she earned a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Bassett made history as the first African-American to win the Best Actress Golden Globe for a Musical or Comedy. While she made headlines with movies like How Stella Got Her Groove Back and Waiting to Exhale, she also gained positive reviews as she made rare guest appearances on shows like Alias and Freedom: A History of Us. "Angela is a wonderfully talented actress whom I've long hoped to work with," said ER exec producer John Wells. In addition to Bassett, original cast member Noah Wyle (Dr. John Carter) will also rejoin ER for the final season as well. "ER is one of the greatest shows of all time and we can't wait to deliver to the audience the fantastic stories the series is known for," NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman said in a statement. "We will introduce new characters to the great ensemble." ER presently includes John Stamos, Maura Tierney, Parminder Nagra, Linda Cardinelli, Gloria Reuben, Mekhi Phifer and Goran Visnjic.Fans can catch ER every Thursday at 10pm on NBC.

Am I the only person who likes this show. oh well... I have to say that I hated what happened to Abby and Luka. I thought they were finally going to get there happily ever after and then it just got totally out of control. I do hope they end up together, I won't be happy if they don't lol.

'ER' Admits New InternsWednesday, June 18, 2008 Remember that diminutive and petite dark-haired girl with the plaintive eyes, who captured the hearts of fans on the cult show, Roswell? Shiri Appleby, who played Liz Parker for three seasons on the show, has just been plucked out of post-Roswell near-anonymity to join the long-running ER. Appleby joins the ensemble cast of the groundbreaking medical drama along with Julian Morris, Emily Rose and Victor Rasuk. Along with talented veteran actress Angela Bassett, all four new recruits look to add color to ER's coming 15th and final season in the fall. Your Take SHADAIESPINDOLA2 said: goooooooooood see all » dziedziczka said: That's great! I adore her! see all » tehsinnoori2 said: Its fabulous, even if you dont find time to have fun its really amazing to have her by all means see all » "The new group of young characters adds a burst of fresh energy and a bunch of different personalities for us to play off of as we enter our 15th and final season," executive producer David Zabel has said. "While we will be reconnecting with the history of ER, as well as telling the ongoing stories of our current regulars, we also will track the development of these new young doctors." Zap2it reports that Appleby and Morris (Cry Wolf) will play siblings whose guiding principles couldn't be any more different. Appleby's character is smart and more than eager and willing to devour whatever she can in terms of skill and knowledge. On the other hand, her brother (portrayed by Morris) thinks he can get by on nothing but his charm and good looks alone. Meanwhile, Emily Rose will essay the role of a control freak, who, not surprisingly, isn't going to win the next popularity contest. Finally, Victor Rasuk will portray a native New Yorker with the misfortune of being henpecked by the missus. Appleby, Morris, Rose and Rasuk all come into ER with recurring appearances as interns at County General. After more than a decade of quality stories and a long list of brilliant actors for its cast members, ER is finally bidding farewell at the end of its upcoming 15th season. The series has served as a launching pad for the careers of such hot Hollywood commodities as George Clooney, Juliana Margulies, Maria Bello and Maura Tierney. From the genius of Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton, ER has become an institution in quality television entertainment. Consistently among the highest-rated series on TV, ER has reaped a 22 Emmy awards and earned a total of over a hundred Emmy nominations. ER enters its 15th and final season beginning Thursday, September 25th at 10pm.

Anthony Edwards Rushes Back to 'ER'Fri, September 05, 2008 NBC’s ER is coming to a close and production is rounding up the best actors and actresses who have graced the show’s previous seasons to come back for a guest stint. In fact, we previously reported that season 15 will be very star-studded, with stars such as Angela Bassett, who will play Dr. Cate Banfield, a replacement for Kari Matchett’s outgoing character, Dr. Skye Wexler. Moreover, her real-life husband Courtney B. Vance will be playing her on-screen hubby, Russell Banfield. More interestingly, NBC has announced that another familiar face will be returning to appear in a scene with Angela Bassett. TV Guide reports that Anthony Edwards, who originally played Dr. Mark Greene, is set to come back to reprise his role and help shed light on Bassett’s Dr. Cate Banfield’s past. Contrary to what others may think, Edwards is not coming back to haunt the living, like some characters in soap operas. In fact, Dr. Greene, who was last seen in May 2002 prior to his death by brain tumor, is set to appear in the November 13 episode, where he will be appearing in a series of flashbacks. Edwards will begin shooting next week the particular episode in which Angela Bassett first arrives at the County General Hospital as a patient, and not a doctor. Dr. Greene will be her attending doctor on the episode entitled “Heal Thyself.” The episode is written by ER executive producer David Zabel, who will also be directing the episode. Fans will be glad to know that aside from Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle will also be returning as Dr. John Carter for four episodes this 15th season. While most fans are still rooting for George Clooney to come back to the series for the final season, no news has been confirmed whether or not the 47-year-old Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning actor will be coming back as the famous Dr. Doug Ross.
