MTV.com: Edi Gathegi on the New Moon ScriptSANTA MONICA, California — Edi Gathegi recently reunited with his "Twilight" co-stars in Vancouver, kicking off the lengthy process of shooting the highly anticipated sequel "New Moon." But before he left, he stopped by the MTV studio to fill us in on some top-secret script details, what it's like to pump iron with Taylor Lautner and what we can expect next from the vampire Laurent. "I'm going up to Vancouver for some preproduction stuff and rehearsals. The entire cast is going to be up there," said the actor, who recently starred in "My Bloody Valentine 3D," making him the first "Twilight" star to have a hit film follow-up (there's already talk of Gathegi returning in a sequel). "We're going to be doing a whole bunch of fun stuff. "I've read the script — it's very good," Gathegi explained, praising the talents of returning screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. Comparing the script to Stephenie Meyer's 563-page novel, he said, "It's a lot more active — in the best possible way — than I thought it was going to be." Although the novel is peppered with failed romance, depression and thoughts of suicide, Gathegi insisted that the second story is better because anticipation becomes reality. "I'm actually one of the people that think that 'New Moon' is pretty active. There's a fraction of people who think it's slow because [Edward Cullen] is gone for a long time, and [Bella] is going through depression — but I think it's more active than 'Twilight,' " he explained. "In 'Twilight,' it's the anticipation every day. The anticipation of 'What is he?' And then you discover what he is. 'New Moon,' I think, has a little more forward movement; which is great for a movie. "And I love what I get to do in it," he said with a wicked grin. "I definitely get to sink my teeth into something." Gathegi also loves the recent activity of co-star Taylor Lautner — one of his best friends on the "Twilight" cast. When Lautner's youthful appearance presented him with a possible exile from "New Moon," the two actors pledged to hit the gym together — and the results have spoken for themselves. "He does not let up. I ask, 'What do we do?' [and he replies] 'Everything! The whole routine,' " Gathegi said of their regimen. "I could say that he's definitely one of the most committed people that I have ever seen at the gym. I think I might have been like him when I was younger — I go off and on, even right now. This kid just stays at the focus point. "[Lautner] does free-weights: bi's, tri's, shoulders, legs," Gathegi marveled. "He's ready [to play the older Jacob Black]. His job depends on it, and he has to be this way and get bigger for the rest of the series. I mean, this kid is incredible!" The biggest news for Gathegi these days, however, is that the movie version of Laurent won't go down without a fight. "[In the novel] they talk about me getting chased and destroyed by the werewolves — and in the movie, we'll see what they have me do," he revealed cryptically. "We might show it." MTV.com

Kristen Stewart Shares Thought on 'Eclipse' Director RumorsAs rumors about the possible director for "Eclipse" have been running wild these past few weeks, Kristen Stewart took time to expose what is in her mind on the possibility of Juan Antonio Bayona or Drew Barrymore directing the third "Twilight" saga. Sharing her opinion with Sci Fi Wire, she stated that she believes either Bayona or Barrymore will be a good choice. "I don't know. I mean, as long as they get someone who's invested, as long as they get someone who cares," the 18-year-old starlet explained. "It's so above me, but I think that both of them are [good choices] in their own way. I'm sure that they'd be great. Drew's been doing this her whole life, and she's pretty cool." She further noted that it's too early to say anything since neither has been signed for the project so far. "I could probably get behind both of those choices for various reasons, but neither's . Nobody's been hired, so I don't know yet," so she claimed.
Aside from giving out her comment on "Eclipse" director rumor, the Tracy Tatro of "Into the Wild" also discussed a bit of the shooting location for "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". "It looks great. It looks the same," she gushed about Vancouver comparing it to Portland. "We're having to put green walls [in] places that don't match, but we'll put [in] what is right there after. It's good. The feel, the atmosphere, the environment of the movie is such a character, so we can't drop it. We will maintain that. It looks the same. It feels the same."
To follow up the story of upcoming "The Twilight Saga's New Moon", "Eclipse" follows Bella as she once again finds herself surrounded by danger. Amidst all the danger, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob, with the knowledge that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. This vampire drama film is expected to hit U.S. theaters on June 30, 2010.

The Wolves New Moon is supposed to be the break out for Taylor Lautner – his chance to come out from the open mouth shadow of Robert Pattinson. This is Taylor with New Moon director Chris Weitz in Vancouver yesterday at a lunch meeting and it’s your first look at Jacob and his friends – the Wolves! Thoughts on casting? It’s been a long time since I read the book – because the entire f*cking book consists of Bella falling down and crying – but I think…it’s where Jacob grows like 10 inches seemingly overnight, right? Taylor has a long way to go. Or maybe height doesn’t matter in the movie. Like Edward didn’t exactly sparkle so perhaps Jacob doesn’t have to be so tall? These are decisions for Chris Weitz. However yesterday Chris Weitz, in addition to spending time with his wolves, was at a luxury dealership checking out options for the Cullen fleet. All I remember is they like expensive fast cars. Please twihards, please you don’t need to email me with the details. Please know I’m thrilled you have them memorised. Anyway, back to Taylor and his skin – it’s perfect, non? Seems like a sweet, earnest kid. He deserves a piece of the Twi Pie too! Laura…be nice. SOURCE: Photos at the source!

OK the title says New Moon has wrapped up, but it hasnt Its jusrt begun I think they just mean wrapped up for the day. Twilight’s New Moon Wraps Up ShootingTOFINO — Threatening skies, angry waves, pelting rain and howling winds drew cast and crew members of a popular movie saga about teenagers, vampires and love to this West Coast tourist mecca this week. Filming of the Twilight Saga’s next movie, New Moon, wrapped up Friday evening after one full day of shooting inside Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, and participants had nothing but good things to say about the bad weather. “The weather is perfect for us: rainy, dismal, in the sense of the visuals, the mist on the ocean, the cloudiness, the erratic wind activity,” said Bill Bannerman, New Moon’s co-producer. “Everything is exactly what it should be.” New Moon is the second movie in the four-part Twilight Saga, and is based on the writings of U.S. author Stephenie Meyer. The saga follows the teenaged character Isabella Swan who moves to Forks, Washington – located on the North Olympic Peninsula – and falls in love with a vampire. Distributed by Summit Entertainment, the first movie, Twilight, brought in (US) $69.6 million in its opening weekend last November. Cast members Kristin Stewart, who plays Isabella Swan, and Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, arrived in Tofino by bus Thursday. Poor weather prevented them from flying directly to Tofino from Vancouver. So they flew to Nanaimo and drove west across Vancouver Island. Under rainy, gray skies, filming kicked off Thursday afternoon at the rugged and rocky South Beach, located near Wickaninnish Beach inside Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Cast and crew returned to South Beach Friday morning, before moving to Incinerator Rock at Long Beach, where Parks Canada closed down a parking lot popular with surfers for movie crews. Bannerman said the crew needed to shoot a couple of scenes that would bridge the story’s second act and show the characters evolving personalities and relationships. Local topography, he added, proved vital. “You have to feel, which is perceived quite in detail, quite a bit in detail in the book, the Forks and La Push area,” he said. “It forces you, when you put it to a visual medium, to go into really remote locations to try to find that texture. And so this is one element we couldn’t find anywhere else. That’s why we love it.” Crews kept filming under the radar, and security remained tight. A contingent of local, off-duty Mounties volunteered their time and provided close security to the cast in exchange for a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock – a grueling bike ride that takes police from northern Vancouver Island to Victoria. Laura Timmermans, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student at Ucluelet secondary school, and several friends, however, managed to get close enough to meet the stars. “They didn’t seem like anything but teenagers like us,” she said. “We were totally blown away.” Timmermans said she arrived at the parking lot near South Beach at 10 a.m. and waited. When crews moved a van and blocked their view around 1 p.m., the girls complained, said Timmermans. Almost immediately, Stewart and Lautner came out to meet them. After meeting the actors, Timmermans said she and her friends returned home and watched the first movie, Twilight. The movie and books are so popular, she said, because they intertwine the idea of immortality and love. But Bill Fend, the owner of Tofino’s Long Beach Surf Shop, questioned whether it was necessary to close down the Incinerator Rock parking lot. “To do it during spring break is unfathomable,” he said. He said people, especially families, travel thousands of kilometres to come to the park, and he feared the park was heading down a path where it was for rent. However, Joan Miller, commissioner of the Vancouver Island North Film Commission, said films like New Moon can coast as much as $100,000 per day to shoot and the economic spinoffs are vital to resource-based communities trying to diversify their economies. “This is a project that we’re thrilled to have in our region,” said Miller. “We worked on the first movie, but because the Canadian dollar got so strong, we lost it to Oregon. “With the position the Canadian dollar is in right now, we’ve been able to have another kick at the can, and we’ve been successful. So here it is. “We hope this is just the start. We’re working really close with the parks department, with the communities, with the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District to try and get the message out there we’re a film friendly region, and as long as the gods are with us, and the Canadian dollar stays where it is, we’re going to be able to continue to attract this type of diversification to the area.” Bannerman said crews will be in the Vancouver area for the few months and will also shoot a couple scenes in Italy. He said filming will wrap up at the end of May, and the movie will come out Nov. 20. Bannerman thanked Parks Canada and the locals who worked on production and location support for their help. “This is a substantial look that may be revisited in the next chapter,” he said. “So more than likely, you know, Tofino is back in the equation…” Click here to see some set photos.Source

Kristen and Taylor at cliff diving shootSmall town word-of-mouth paid off for five Ucluelet teens who are major fans of the Twilight Saga film and book series Friday. Laura Timmermans, 17, and four of her friends went to Pacific Rim National Park Thursday and Friday to scout out what they heard was filming of New Moon — the second installment of author Stephenie Meyer’s four-part series about a vampire who falls for a girl in a small Oregon coast town. “We got there and saw the trailers and the crews and they told us it was a commercial and a documentary,” said the Grade 12 student at Ucluelet secondary school, where Twilight devotion splits the class. “Finally, someone was like, ‘Yeah, it’s New Moon.’” New Moon is currently filming in and around Vancouver but locations have been top secret to avoid hordes of screaming fans storming the stars and set. A recent casting call for small roles in the $50-million film drew hundreds of fans to Victoria and Vancouver, several of whom broke into tears when they were turned away. Timmermans and her friends hung around the set Thursday and spotted two of the film’s stars, Kristin Stewart, 18, and Taylor Lautner, 17, coming up a trail from the beach. “They looked like they were filming the scene where Bella [Stewart] almost drowns because they were wet and wrapped in towels,” she said. On Friday, the girls’ persistence paid off when Stewart and Lautner came out to greet them. “[Stewart] came out of her trailer and said, ‘Hi guys, I’m Kristin,” recalls Timmermans, who teased the stars about being ill-prepared for the wild and wet West Coast weather. “I asked them where their gumboots were and they laughed ... They had on nice Converse [and] Reeboks and designer jackets.” Lautner, who Timmermans described as “100 per cent as cute in person,” offered to pose in pictures for the friends. Timmermans’s friend Jillian Edwards, 16, said she was impressed by how friendly the teen stars were. “Kristin was so friendly and polite,” she said. Stewart told the group if it was up to her they could come watch the filming on the beach, but the area was secured by off-duty Mounties volunteering on the two-day shoot in exchange for a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock — an annual fundraising cycling trip from Victoria to the north Island. Timmermans and Edwards are hopeful the Twilight crew will be back on the Island during filming, which continues until the end of May. “They said the sun came out and they didn’t get all the shots they needed,” said Edwards. Joan Miller, film commissioner for Vancouver Island North, was mum on details of more filming in the area. “Of course, we’d love to have them back,” she said, adding that the cast and crew wrapped Friday and left the area Saturday morning. The area was almost the setting of the first Twilight film, which grossed more than $70 million US, but a high Canadian dollar sent the production south. “We scouted locations for them, but in the end it’s a business and they chose not to film here. Now things are different with the economy and we’re very happy to attract these kinds of productions, which go out of their way to take care of the environment they’re working in.” Not everyone in the Tofino area was pleased with the blockbuster’s choice of location and timing of filming. Bill Fend, owner of Tofino’s Long Beach Surf Shop, said closing the national park’s main parking lot to accommodate the film on spring break weekend was bad planning. “The park is supposed to be for everyone at all times,” he said. “To close part of it during spring break and Whale Festival — which lots of tourists come for — shows a lack of planning and professionalism.” Source (with links to pics)

^^ Finally!! An official statement from Summit! WE FINALLY HAVE OUR WOLF PACK!! YAY!! Cast on the romance of Rob & Kristen. With the filming of New Moon under way in Vancouver, the newest batch of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart romance rumors should start rolling out any day now. Even though the two laugh off the persistent claims of a real-life love affair, that hasn't stopped many from thinking otherwise. So what's really going on? Their costars have some ideas… Edi Gathegi, who plays Laurent, tells me the cast and crew have pretty much ignored the gossip. "I can't even think of those two together at all," he told me during his recent stop in Los Angeles for the launch of Catherine Hardwicke's Twilight: Director's Notebook. "Kristen has a boyfriend! It's onscreen and that's it." Ashley Greene, aka Alice Cullen, says Pattinson and Stewart are, in a way, victims of their own success. "Their chemistry is fantastic, but no, they are not in a romantic relationship," Greene said at the Twilight at Midnight DVD launch event at Hollywood's Hot Topic store. "They are good actors [is] basically what it comes down to." She added, "That's kind of the advantage that we had on Twilight. Everyone has such great chemistry. With as big as cast it was, and as young as a cast it was, we all just got along so fantastically." And it sounds like all that feel-good camaraderie is already spilling over into New Moon. Greene said the cast is already getting in some bonding time off the clock. Peter Facinelli, who plays vampire patriarch Dr. Carlisle Cullen, recently had everyone over for dinner. "He cooked pasta for all of us," Greene said. "We all came to his house and ate and drank and talked. It's a bizarre thing, because we kind of all looked at each other and were like, 'Sooo, what's your life been like?' It was fun." www.eonline.com/uberblog/marc_malkin/b105721_pattinson_stewart_romance_real.html

New Moon has its HeidiI can exclusively reveal that Canadian supermodel Noot Seear has won the coveted role of the beautiful human bait in the Twilight sequel. Heidi is described in Stephenie Meyer's novel as a "fisher" who brings humans to the Volturi vampires to eat. She has "exceptional, unforgettable" beauty, which includes stunning legs, long hair and violet eyes. If y'all remember, 90210 starlet AnnaLynne McCord auditioned for the role, which insiders have described to me as being more of a cameo than anything else. So who is this Noot Seear? The 25-year-old dark blond stunner hails from Vancouver, Canada. (Yup, that's where director Chris Weitz just started shooting New Moon). She's 5 feet 9 inches tall and has blue eyes, according to her agency, One Model Management. Her measurements? 34-24-34. She began modeling when she was about 13 years old and moved to New York City "for more exposure," New York magazine has reported. Since then she has appeared in spreads in Elle, Cosmopolitan and Vanity Fair. Her ad campaigns have included Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein's CK One fragrance, Vera Wang Bridal and Pantene Pro-V. She's also walked several catwalks for designers like Ralph Lauren, Balenciaga, Lanvin and Alexander Wang. Let the Robert Pattinson and Noot romance rumors begin! Seear's manager could not confirm the casting, but tells me, "She has auditioned and is in consideration with the studio for the role."
