Official Lyrics
PERMANENT
Is this the moment where I look you in the eye? Forgive my broken promise that you’ll never see me cry And everything it will surely change even if I Tell you I won’t go away today
Will you think that you’re all alone When no one’s there to hold your hand When all you know seems so far away And everything is temporary, rest your head I’m permanent
I know he’s living in hell every single day And so I ask, Oh God is there some way for me to take his place And when they say it’s so touch and go I wish I could make it go away, but still you say

I love this song, and I've only heard 30 seconds of it, I read that it only took Cook 15 minutes to write this. 8 more days..

David Cook Dedicates Song to BrotherDavid Cook isn’t lacking for inspiration these days. But while his skyrocketing career is certainly fairy tale fodder, Cook needs to look no further than his own backyard. To that end, the ‘American Idol’ winner wrote a song called ‘ Permanent’ — the “poignantly personal” second-to-last track on Cook’s forthcoming debut solo record — for his brother, Adam, who is currently fighting cancer. “I want this to be a piano lullaby to my older brother, who’s been battling a brain tumor for a long time,” Cook tells PopEater. “I knew that the record was lacking this kind of bare, honest, naked song. I didn’t allow myself to be metaphorical or anything other than, ‘This is the exact thought that I’m thinking, and I’m going to put it on paper and leave it alone.” While recording the song, which features a 15-piece string orchestra, Cook found himself in emotional throes. “I was crying, of course, because I do that all the time,” he laughs. As for his brother, Cook says he’s doing well and it’s fingers crossed for the future. “We’ve been very fortunate as a family to get quite a bit of good news pertaining to his illness while I was on tour,” Cook says. “Hopefully it’s all good news ahead.” Source

From Orlando.
I love when he sings this, knowing the meaning it has for him.

from last night this is the first time ever that he hasn't finished a song, I know that this is an emotional song, but he has performed it alot, which makes me believe that something is wrong, and its hitting him hard. I could be wrong but atleast the fans were supported of him and cheered him when he walked away from the mic and the stage went black. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGxqiDzkcTM&feature=player_embedded

Yeah he must have performed that song hundreds of times by now...It's not normal to get so emotional, I feel for him, I hope everything is ok with his brother..

Last night during the concert he said that he was cancelling the next 2 shows, didn't give a reason. So something is obviously wrong
